"Business Trader Security Awareness"
Business Trader endeavors to maintain legitimate business for sale opportunities on our site, but would like remind our advertisers to be aware of fraudulent enquiries from scammers posing as potential buyers.
As an advertiser on our site (or any site), please be cautious of emails from people using a 'gmail' or 'hotmail' or any other free email hosting services. Scammers often use these email accounts to conduct fraudulent business scams as they are untraceable.
If you do receive a suspicious email, make sure you ask the appropriate questions and always make sure they are contactable by phone.
Often these scammers will try to get you to disclose person and banking information such as the following:
- Master, Visa and Amex card details
- Bank Account Numbers
- Drivers License Information
- Tax File Number
Under NO circumstances should you ever disclose this information.
Another good idea is to get your solicitor or accountant to follow up on these leads for you. They will be able to determine very quickly if the enquiry is legit or not.
You can also forward the email in question to us and we will look into it for you.
